The UGC initiated a major program of vacationalisation (career oriented course) at under-graduate level during 8th plan. The scheme was designed to ensure that graduates who pass out after completing these courses would have knowledge skills and aptitude for gainful employment in the wage sector in general and self-employment in particular.
In our College COC in Horticulture (UGC sponsored) was started as modified vocational course in the year 2005- 2006. Horticulture has application in several fields and there is considerable need for horticulture training for students specially in the fields og floriculture (Flowers), pomology (Fruits), oleri culture (Vegetables), Medicinal, Aromatic plants, spices etc.,
Students studying arts commerce or science at degree level are eligible for admission. The certificates are issued to students by the University at the end of course as below
- Certificate in Horticulture -1 year
- Diploma in Horticulture -2 years
- Advanced diploma in Horticulture - 3 Years
