Vision of the department is to develop in the field of science and technology in reducing gap between distance and measurement. As a result of the recent advancements in the data acquisition systems using the remote sensing techniques it is an easy task to study the structure and distribution of natural wealth over the globe. The global out look interms of the contents, Forests, Oil reserved mineral deposits and other geo-information are derived through the communication satellites. It is therefore very necessary to acquire the knowledge of these techniques and the methodologies applied for a better understanding of the subject.
It could be highly appropriate to think of introducing these techniques at degree levels. The understanding of the current trends demands the knowledge of the recent equipments employed in the field. The idea may be accomplished either by introducing the special papers in present curriculum or by encouraging the special lecture / workshop programmes both for the teachers and students.
