The Department of Mathematics is one of the departments which is functioning from the inception of the College. Today, the Department of Mathematics caters to 217 students with staff strength of 2 teachers.The Department of Mathematics is encouraging talented students to participant in talent search programmes like MT & TS. Special lectures and contact progammes in Mathematics are conducted by the department. The Mathematics sections of the College library is quite well stocked. It also subscribes to all the leading Mathematics Journals and thus fulfils the needs of both the teachers and students. Total Number of Books – 2544, Total Number of Journals and Magazines - 03
* The college being an autonomous one, the department has full freedom to design a course laying emphasis on.
i) Equipping students with substantial knowledge for a wide range of applications of Mathematics in Science, Technology and Business administration.
ii) Training the students so that they get opportunities in IT Companies.
As a positive step in this direction, the department is designing a new course with a plan to implement the same from next academic year.

2) Preparation of syllabus for semester scheme – Yuvaraja’s.College Mysore. (Autonomous)
3) Preparation of Hand Book for the first and second semester containing Pioneers in Mathematics.
4) Member-Faculty for Science and Technology - University of Mysore.
5) CDSS - University of Mysore. (Promoting Science and Mathematics learning among the high school Students).
Proposal for improvement of faculty and development of instructional material:
1. The teachers of Mathematics will be invited for periodical gathering to discuss.
>> The adequacy of the prescribed curriculum and possible improvements.
>> The most effective methods of teaching important aspects of Mathematics and its concepts.
>> The most effective way of conducing examinations laying emphasis on basic Understanding of the subject as distinct from rote learning.
2) Organizing periodical seminars on specific topics such as linear Algebra,Numerical analysis, Group theory, Bilinear transformation etc. Inter disciplinary subjects like Quantum mechanics (link to linear algebra), Optimization, (Engineering and Business) Statistical methods (Economics and Biology) Bilinear transformation (Computer Graphics), Discrete Mathematics.
3) Projects similar to leadership projects with possible aid from U.G.C
